Recommended Hockey Products

Walking into a hockey shop these days can seem a bit overwhelming for some people. My first time ever walking into one, I felt like a kid in a candy shop. I was just fascinated by all the new gear and different selections they had to offer. In recent years there has been a lot of cool products to reach the hockey market. Some of these are a necessity, while some are just a straight up money grab. There has been emergence of new brands and some known brands have either combined with another or have completely left the hockey scene entirely. I am here today to give some insight and possibly some recommendations to what hockey products you may want to look at. To start off, the brand I always recommend to everybody I know is Bauer. Bauer has been a staple in the hockey community for over twenty years. They have sponsored prolific players such as Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, Auston Matthews, and David Pastrnak. Bauer makes every piece of equipment you will need while offering the best material in the process. I have used Bauer my entire life and I can vouch by saying the products they release to the products are highly reliable and comfortable to the player. If the pro players I listed above did not agree with me, they would have ditched their sponsorship years ago. Another solid brand I recommend is CCM. Everybody has their favorites and Bauer happens to be mine, but CCM is favorite to my brother and a ton of other players. It is a well known brand in the hockey world and a lot of pro players are sponsored by CCM. Some of those players are Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin, Nathan MacKinnon, and the best player currently in the world Connor McDavid. CCM was purchased by Reebok, but Reebok phased their brand out of hockey and left CCM as the lead brand. CCM has reliable equipment and gear just like Bauer. It is just a matter of preference on which you choose to buy. You cannot go wrong with either of these superior brands. The next thing I am going to recommend is not a brand, but a product that is made by other brands. Have you ever heard of stick wax? Probably not. Stick wax is a product I heard about later in my playing career. The purpose of stick wax is for you to apply some to the hockey tape on your blade. It is suppose to help with having more control with the puck if you are going to try and dangle, take a slap shot, or just try and keep the puck away from the opponent. I have seen some players apply an absurd amount of wax on the blade. That can end up being a negative as there is "too much" grip for players to handle. Overall, apply the amount of wax you are comfortable with. This product will help you have more trust in your puck handling abilities. The next product I would recommend is an item that can come in clutch from time to time. The item is a skate sharpening stone. Hockey skates are required to be sharp in order to skate your fastest and really get a feel for the ice. There are many reasons why a skate blade can fall dull whether its stepping on concrete or you just haven't got the chance to sharpen the skates in a while. The skate sharpening stone can provide short term relief to dull ice skates. Suppose you show up to the rink expecting to get your skates sharpened at the pro shop, and the shop is closed. Surprisingly this happens a lot. If you have a stone, this can provide relief for a skate or two before you get around to sharpening the skates. The skate stone is a highly reliable product that I recommend every player should invest in. Coaches should look into having one for their team just in case because dull blades happen, prevent them while you can. After that, the next product I would recommend is one not too many players use as they get older. What I am talking about is called a skate key or a lace tightener. This product is excellent for young players who are starting to tie their skates on their own for the first time. Tying skates require a decent amount of strength, which majority of young players do not have yet. The skate key acts like a hook attaching itself to the lace giving the player more leverage to tie their skates to their desired tightness. This product is also great for older players who cannot bend down to their skates due to severe injury. I have talked to older adult players who mentioned that this product has helped with the pain of tying skates. This product is not expensive and I insist that players should look into it. The final hockey product I want to recommend is the True hockey stick. True is a newer brand in the game. I personally never got to use it as my playing career came to an end while True was gaining popularity. One thing I have noticed is that a bunch of younger players have started using the stick. I asked around to get a better understanding on it. From what I am told is this product is highly reliable and it feels great in the shooters' hand. It has gained a ton of popularity over the years, and I am starting to notice a lot of NHL players use the stick now. The brand True is has expanded into making other forms of equipment and skates. I am not familiar with those products though. The True stick has got amazing reviews from users I have talked to that is why it is on my recommendation list. Overall, the brands and products I have mentioned above are great and should leave you satisfied with your purchase. I would trust your heart, but also trust my recommendations.
